Re: “The Pervasive Threat of Declining Student Enrolment,” June 07
In the spring, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan published its report to members. Highlights of the report included:
Occasional teachers should be aware of a number of rules under the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) that affect them differently from how other teachers are affected.
In April some of you will be asked to take part ina survey about your preferences should there be another shortfall in the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP).
For the past two years OTF has been advising members of an actuarial funding deficiency in the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP). OTPP is one of the biggest and best pension plans in the world.
My first year as OTF table officer has been both rewarding and challenging. At the forefront of the challenges were pension negotiations, which were complicated by historically low interest rates and an escalating actuarial deficit.
